Letter from T.M. Buffington, principal chief of the Cherokee Nation, soliciting Roosevelt's support for a bill which would provide for certain claims of the Cherokee in the West; letter from Roosevelt to Charles J. Bonaparte congratulating him on an address; draft of a letter to Charles Hall Davis, chairman of the executive committee of the Southern Commercial Congress, to be read at the meeting, emphasizing the role the South would play in the economic development of the nation, especially after the completion of the Panama Canal. Includes three notes written by Roosevelt: one is a thank-you note to Mr. G.V. Dahlgren of St. Louis (1898); the second is an undated social note to Judge M.W. Morrow in New York; the third was written from Sagamore Hill in 1916, thanking a Dr. Mullowney for medical advice. Also includes two invitations, a program for the 1905 inauguration, and a clipping of an article entitled "Visit to Sagamore Hill, " featuring Roosevelt's home and an interview with this daughter, Ethel (Roosevelt) Derby.
